GÜLFEM KESSLER

(b. 1966, Ankara) The artist lives and works in Istanbul and Urla/Izmir. Kessler, who has had an intense and mobile artistic practice since school years, studied in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (The Hague / Netherlands), Department of Painting and Graphics between 1993-98. She attended the Özer KabaÅŸ Workshop at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Painting Department between 1996-97. She participated in many group exhibitions in places she lived before choosing a more settled lifestyle in 2016. Later, she worked closely with a variety of galleries in Istanbul as well as the Barbaros Oyuk Festival in Izmir. She is a founding member of the festival and took on the position of art coordinator and curator for a while.
