BE Contemporary is an art gallery that promotes and supports the development of contemporary art in Turkey. Contemporary art is part of a cultural dialogue that concerns larger contextual frameworks such as personal and cultural identity, family, community, and nationality. The gallery aims to open this dialogue to the international audience from the perspective of the Turkish contemporary artists who live on the land that has a diverse and eclectic cultural heritage from the ancient civilizations and now work in a globally influenced, culturally diverse and technologically advancing world.
The gallery is operating in Urla, Izmir, which is a city that hosted Ancient Greeks, Romans, & Ottomans in history, inherited various elements from each of them, and currently is becoming a culinary center of the country, with its trending chefs, restaurants and famous vineyards, developing a new contemporary taste for arts & culture.
ABOUT US
BE Contemporary was established by Bahar SoyoÄŸuz in 2016. While working in the luxury hotel industry, she completed a MA in Cultural Policy & Art Management in 2014 and continued her everlasting learning process within the institutions of Sabancı Museum Istanbul, Sotheby’s Institute of Art London & Node Center for Curatorial Studies.

One of her most important goals is to support and strengthen the Turkish Contemporary Art. She closely monitors the movement of foreign art markets, critics and galleries. She is working with talented visionary contemporary Turkish artists, preparing projects & organizing exhibitions. At the same time she is working for Turkish audience to appreciate contemporary art organizing events, tours and residency programs to allow and promote the cultural exchange.
ART TOURS
We arrange contemporary art tours, creating tailor-made itineraries for our clients to see the most influential contemporary art galleries & museums in the art world.
ARTIST REPRESENTATION
We represent artists; we help them promote their work, build up relations with collectors, galleries and museums, develop new projects and organize exhibitions.
RESIDENCY PROGRAMS
We provide cultural exchange; we arrange residency programs bringing contemporary artists from around the world, introducing our culture & learning from theirs.
